Sustainability
Sustainability
A PHILOSOPHY THAT BEGINS WITH HOW WE LIVE
For the founder of NIKKO, sustainability has never been something created for the brand. It begins with the way she chooses to live.
Living in one of the world’s beautiful, conscious communities, she has built her everyday life around awareness — paying attention to what she buys, where her food comes from, what she brings into her home, what she throws away and what can be given another life.
She believes that living sustainably does not have to mean living perfectly. It is about becoming more conscious of the thousands of small choices we make.
Where did this come from? Who made it? Do I really need it? Can I reuse it? Can I repair it? Can I choose differently?

As much as she loves fashion, colour, beauty and creating clothing for people around the planet, there is another philosophy sitting quietly underneath everything she creates:
Waste as little as you can. Appreciate what you have. Choose with intention.
Because each of us is part of the circle.
One small decision may feel insignificant, but millions of small decisions create enormous change. Every little step counts.
INSPIRED BY A SIMPLER WAY OF LIVING
Travel has deeply shaped the philosophy behind NIKKO.
Spending time in Bali, alongside the NIKKO team, has taught her about simplicity, resourcefulness, community and finding richness in ways that have very little to do with how much we own.
Her travels through India, including time around traditional and nomadic communities, have also stayed deeply within her. There is something powerful about observing ways of life where making, repairing, sharing, reusing, storytelling, craftsmanship and community are naturally woven into everyday existence.
These experiences continually bring her back to one idea:
Perhaps we don't always need more. Perhaps we need to see more deeply what we already have.

She is drawn to slow living — to handmade objects, old textiles, markets, artisans, imperfect things, beautiful food, conversations, traditions and pieces carrying evidence of the human hands that created them.
And this naturally flows into her approach to fashion.
SLOW LIFE. SLOW FASHION.
NIKKO does not believe fashion needs to move at the speed the modern world tells us it should.
Fashion can be slower.
It can be emotional. Personal. Playful. Imperfect. It can carry memories and travel through different chapters of our lives.
A garment doesn't lose its beauty simply because a new season begins.
We want NIKKO pieces to be worn, travelled in, danced in, loved, repaired, rediscovered and perhaps one day passed on to someone else.
Because slow fashion is ultimately about connection — connection to the person who imagined the piece, the hands that made it, the material it came from, the person wearing it and eventually the life that piece goes on to have.
THERE IS MORE THAN WHAT WE CAN SEE
At the heart of NIKKO is also a belief that there is more to life than what we can see with our eyes.
We are connected to our surroundings, to nature, to other people and to the things we choose to bring into our lives.
Clothing can carry stories. Objects can hold memories. Colours can change how we feel. The places we visit can transform the way we see the world.
For NIKKO, conscious living is therefore not only about sustainability.
It is about awareness.
Being curious. Travelling. Learning from other cultures. Respecting craftsmanship. Supporting people. Consuming less. Creating more. Looking after what already exists. Leaving space for imperfection. And remembering that we are all participants in something much bigger than ourselves.
Every choice is part of the circle.
Every small step counts.
Everything is connected.
